Notion for the ipad is also very good. Easy to use and great sounds for composing and learning. I can see it being an invaluable tool for music teachers as well as composers.

I just started using Progression for Ipad and I must say, after the initial learning curve, I’m finding this app very useful as both a composing tool and a learning tool. I have never been that familiar with notation, I’ve always been a tabs guy though, and now, having the advantage of having both in front of me as I compose is allowing me to take my music to the next level.

A very nice app but I can't figure out how to make the chords sound longer. When I play like on a normal guitar the sound lasts wau to short....

awesome.. I also used to run sample tank on the desktop, but am off to app store for use on my iPad.. lets face it we all want to play in a band.. at the myJazz club we build jazz piano lessons for the iPad with backing tracks to play with the band.. I can't wait to add the sample tank instruments

Very cool for electronic music and DJ's. I am also interested in composing for natural instruments but there doesn't seem to be a lot out there. I have begun using Notion for the ipad and it seems to be quite a powerful tool for scoring. It would also be very useful in teaching music. It's loaded with orchestral instruments. Mostly i've been using it to get ideas down when I'm away from my home studio. Does anyone know of any other similar apps?

I've been using Notion for the ipad. It's a great app for composing. You get an entire orchestra at your fingertips so there are many options for quality audio sounds. I'm not only learning a lot about writing notation but I am now composing scores. Love this app!
